An Israeli soldier's iPhone deflected a bullet, saving his life, and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Rabbi Shai Graucher presented him and his fellow soldiers with new iPhones.
iPhones are protected against dust, water, and certain temperature extremes, but Apple has never revealed whether the device is bulletproof. Some rare incidents have led users to put this indicator to practical tests, and fortunately, they escaped unscathed.
The latest story comes from a post on X by the LivingLchaim account. This short article shares a story about a soldier whose iPhone stopped a bullet and saved his life.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu visited the soldier along with Rabbi Shai Graucher and speculated that his unit was also in the hospital. They gave away new iPhones to the soldiers.
The iPhone shown in the video was covered with what appeared to be a transparent plastic back case. The bullet passed directly through the phone and passed through the casing, but by this time the bullet had lost its power and did not cause serious harm to the owner of the phone.
It's unclear which iPhone the soldier was using, but judging from a brief frame showing a vertical camera bump, it appears it could be an iPhone X. Now, the soldier who survived a direct bullet hit has the latest iPhone 15.
