Previously, there were reports that the media VideoGamer used an article completely generated by AI to review "Resident Evil: Requiem" and it was deleted by the well-known website Metacritic. This matter has gradually escalated recently, causing the media to be blocked by Google and cannot be searched.

The 20-year-old game media has come to an end, and its existence was “erased” by Google due to AI cleaning.

VideoGamer is an established game media that has been in existence for 20 years. It was co-founded by two college friends in 2004. Until recently, the VideoGamer brand relied on a series of original interviews and excellent reporting to maintain its reputation. But things took a turn for the worse after the media outlet was acquired by a Maltese company related to cryptocurrency. Many editors who contributed to VideoGamer's recent rise have left. Soon after, the rest of the staff was laid off, and the site made a bold pivot to devote itself entirely to publishing AI-generated articles and fictional editors.

The news writer's profile generated by the media included photos and fake social media profiles generated by ChatGPT. This was a deliberate attempt to mislead Google, because the search engine prioritizes articles written by real experts in the field. As a result, Google downgraded the media’s search priority or even removed it from its index entirely, and today the site no longer appears in search results. This is a sad end to a brand that has been running for 20 years.

Tom Ory, co-founder of VideoGamer and now editor-in-chief of Europe's leading gaming media Eurogamer, wrote: "I remember sitting in a small room in a dormitory at the University of Brighton when VideoGamer (then called Pro-G) was created. For a long time, it was my whole life. I hope people remember what it once meant to everyone, rather than the miserable state it has become now."
