On the morning of March 23, local time, a C-130 "Hercules" transport aircraft of the Colombian Air Force crashed 15 minutes after taking off in the southwestern province of Putumayo. At that time, the military transport plane was carrying 114 soldiers and 11 crew members, with a total of 125 people on board.

Colombian President Petro confirmed that 83 people on board had survived and were receiving treatment. As for the number of victims, the latest news says that 48 people have been killed.

According to the commander of the Colombian Air Force, the transport plane was flying from Port Leguizamo to Port Assis and was carrying Colombian army soldiers when the incident occurred.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation. It can be confirmed that the plane malfunctioned shortly after takeoff and crashed about two kilometers away from the departure airport.
