Microsoft President and CEO Nadella announced that the Fairwater AI data center located in Mount Pleasant, Wisconsin, USA, has been put into use ahead of schedule. The data center has a total investment of US$3.3 billion and is equipped with hundreds of thousands of NVIDIA GB200 super chips. The project covers an area of ​​approximately 127.6 hectares and includes three buildings with a total construction area of ​​approximately 111,000 square meters.About 75 kilometers of deep foundation piles and about 12,000 tons of structural steel were used during the construction process, and a closed-loop liquid cooling system was deployed.

The computing performance of the Fairwater data center is ten times that of the world's top supercomputers and will be used for training cutting-edge AI models. Microsoft plans to build multiple Fairwater data centers of similar size in other parts of the United States.

In terms of global layout,Microsoft has planned similar facilities in more than 70 regions, and currently has more than 100 data centers in operation. In the future, the company will replicate the Fairwater model in many places in the United States.

Microsoft said it will reduce the impact on local electricity prices by prepaying for electricity and grid infrastructure. At the same time, the company has promoted the construction of a 250-megawatt solar power plant in Portage County and emphasized that it will take into account the protection of the local ecological environment.
