South Korea has become the fourth country to establish a security partnership in the field of artificial intelligence (AI) with ChatGPT developer OpenAI, the Ministry of Science, Technology, Information and Communications announced on Wednesday.

South Korea’s Ministry of Science, Technology, Information and Communications stated that according to the memorandum of understanding signed by the two parties, the South Korean Artificial Intelligence Safety Institute (AISI) and OpenAI will jointly develop a global artificial intelligence security assessment framework.
The two sides will also exchange technical information to develop an AI safety assessment framework that reflects Korean language and the country's social background, the ministry added.
Previously, OpenAI has signed cooperation agreements with artificial intelligence security laboratories in the United States, Britain and Japan.
South Korea's Ministry of Science, Technology, Information and Communications said the latest agreement is expected to strengthen South Korea's position in the global cooperation network on artificial intelligence risk verification and risk assessment standards.
The Korea Artificial Intelligence Safety Research Institute and OpenAI plan to hold a working meeting to finalize the details of cooperation.
