This week Microsoft released a new version of the Microsoft Edge browser for Android and iOS platforms. In this update, Microsoft has ported many functions of Copilot for Web to mobile phones, such as plug-in synchronization, YouTube summary and PDF summary. This update does not bring any new features to the Microsoft Copilot artificial intelligence application, but it synchronizes the features provided by the PC version, including plug-in support, if your account already has plug-in access.

The second function is the YouTube video summary function. If you access YouTube videos on Microsoft Edge, you can use Copilot to summarize the content, so that you can know the general content of the video without watching the video.

This function relies on the subtitles provided by YouTube videos and the cache provided by Microsoft. That is, after the first user of a new video submits a summary, Microsoft generates a summary in the cloud and returns it to all users who request a summary of the video.

If the video does not provide subtitles, Microsoft Copilot may not be able to summarize the content, so not all videos can be summarized.

The third function: When opening PDF files on Microsoft Edge mobile version, you can now use Copilot to summarize. This is a very practical function. When reading certain PDFs, you can use the summary function to roughly understand the content in advance, and then decide whether to read the PDF in full.

Finally, these features are currently being pushed to some users. If you do not find these features after updating to the latest version of Microsoft Edge, you can open edge://flags and check the experimental options involving Copilot, turn on these options and restart Edge.
