On July 24, Wang Xingxing, founder and CEO of Yushu Technology, and his manned mecha product GD01 appeared on the cover of Time magazine with the title "The Age of Robots is Coming." In the picture, the nearly 2.7-meter-tall GD01 almost occupies the entire page, forming a strong visual contrast with Wang Xingxing.
It is understood that GD01 is the world's first mass-produced manned mecha, with a price starting from 3.9 million yuan. Weighing about half a ton, users can enter the cockpit control inside the fuselage trunk. The product supports bipedal and quadrupedal walking, and its fists are powerful enough to penetrate walls. It uses heavy-duty mechanical hinges and a carbon fiber protective shell to achieve smooth steps.
Morgan Stanley predicts that the number of humanoid robots worldwide may reach 13 million units in 2035, and is expected to increase to 1 billion units in 2050, with the industry scale reaching 5 trillion US dollars. Wang Xingxing believes that in the next 10 years, every family may have a small robot to take on tasks such as housework and care.
Recently, Wang Xingxing said that in the past few years, humanoid robots have made rapid progress from walking to dancing, kung fu fighting to simple services. The "ChatGPT moment" of embodied intelligence is expected to arrive within two or three years at the earliest, when robots can work directly in most unfamiliar scenes and realize many basic functions.
Public information shows that Wang Xingxing founded Yushu Technology in 2016, starting with robot dogs and gradually expanding into the fields of robots and manned mechas. His concept of focusing on cost control originated from his college days: he built a small biped robot for less than 30 US dollars during his freshman year; the quadruped robot XDog developed during his master's degree adopted a lower-cost motor-driven route and won the second prize in the National Entrepreneurship Competition. After graduation, he briefly worked for DJI, and later received angel investment of 2 million yuan to found Yushu. It is estimated that about 600 million people watched the CCTV Spring Festival Gala performance of Yushu H2 and G1 robots in February this year.
