Japanese and South Korean stock markets tumbled, with semiconductor stocks leading the decline and investor sentiment under pressure. The Nikkei 225 Index once fell 4% to its lowest level since May 22; the Topix Index once fell 2.7%; South Korea's Kospi once plummeted 7.6%, hitting its lowest level since April 20.

Tokyo Electron Ltd. Semiconductor equipment stocks such as , Kioxia, Samsung Electronics and SK Hynix led the decline, all falling by more than 9%. SK Hynix once fell by 30%, the largest decline on record; Kioxia once fell by 18%, the largest decline since November last year.

Amid the impact of a series of AI transactions totaling more than $750 billion, Nvidia's debt default insurance costs soared, and technology stocks fell in response. Hideyuki Ishiguro, chief strategist at Nomura Asset Management, said that after the disclosure of major investment transactions, the outside world determined that Nvidia's credit risk had increased, which was regarded as negative news by investors.
