Although Microsoft’s gaming market share is not as high as Sony’s. But players have unanimously praised Microsoft's game controller. Recently, news has pointed out that Microsoft seems to be developing a new game controller for the Xbox platform, which has many similarities with the Nintendo Switch Joy-Con. Microsoft appears to have borrowed some ideas from Nintendo and may be using them for its streaming gaming device.
According to a new patent filed in late December 2023, Microsoft appears to be developing a new game controller that can be attached to a variety of surfaces. Specifically, these controllers look a lot like stretchable game controllers launched by domestic manufacturers, and the joysticks are similar to standard Xbox controllers.
This controller seems to be designed by Microsoft specifically for remote play. The new controller will likely connect to a mobile device or tablet via Bluetooth and then clip on to the sides to create a Switch-like handheld device. Considering the increasingly fierce competition in the field of remote play, with Sony recently releasing the PlayStation Portal, it would make sense for Microsoft to release this type of controller.
That being said, it's worth noting that just because this patent has been filed doesn't mean Microsoft will bring this product to market. Often, companies file patents just to keep their ideas developed in-house. Therefore, there is no guarantee that Microsoft will release this controller to the public. However, as 2024 approaches, this controller is still worthy of attention.
