According to reports, iPhone16Pro and iPhone16ProMax will be equipped with larger displays than iPhone15Pro and iPhone15ProMax. In addition, Apple may reduce the size of Smart Island and increase the screen-to-body ratio of the two "Pro" models, among other changes, which we discuss in detail while also showing a few renders based on numerous leaks and rumors.
Starting from the display, the YouTube channel AppleTrack introduced the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max in detail. After several years, Apple will finally expand the panel size of these two models, from the 6.1-inch screen size of the iPhone 15 Pro to the 6.3-inch screen size of the iPhone 16 Pro. The display of the iPhone 16 Pro Max is expected to increase from the 6.7 inches of the iPhone 15 Pro Max to 6.9 inches.
Most people know that besides the increase in screen size, the biggest advantage of larger smartphones is that there is enough space to install a larger battery. Unfortunately, the battery capacity of the iPhone 16 Pro is only 3355 mAh, which is only an increase of 2.48% from the 3274 mAh of the iPhone 15 Pro. Hopefully these specs will change, as it's time for Apple to keep pace with its competitors and use bigger batteries.
One of the most significant changes is reducing the size of the animated island. In one of the renderings, the iPhone 16 Pro adopts a front-hole punch design, and earlier rumors even stated that Apple is testing a model with this special design. The "Smart Island" full punch hole may shrink even smaller, but judging from Apple's history of launching iPhones, the company usually sticks to the same design for a few years before finally launching different products to the global market.
There is also said to be a new "capture" shutter key for video shooting. As for the cameras, both "Pro" models launching later this year are rumored to be equipped with 5x quad-prism optical zoom cameras. Last year, only the iPhone 15 Pro Max was equipped with this hardware, so after the new phone is launched, consumers will be happy to upgrade to the iPhone 16 Pro without having to spend money on a top-tier flagship machine. As for the chip, AppleTrack believes that the "Pro" name will be retained this year, and the new SoC will be called A18Pro.
Earlier, leaked iOS18 code showed that Apple would not use A17Pro in the cheaper iPhone16 model, but would directly switch to A18. As for whether the A18 is just a replacement of the A17Pro, we will reveal it in the future, but for now, the company may mass-produce a completely different chip.
