The Beijing Municipal Administration for Market Regulation launched an investigation into four online hotel travel booking platforms in accordance with the work deployment of the State Administration for Market Regulation. The China Hotel Association actively supports and promotes the implementation of relevant arrangements. The association issues the following initiatives to the entire industry: 1. Actively support regulatory law enforcement and market regulatory authorities to investigate platforms suspected of unfair competition and harming the rights and interests of operators, clarify the boundaries of rules, consolidate platform responsibilities, create a fair competition environment for law-abiding enterprises, and cooperate with policy publicity and industry self-discipline. 2. Promote the disclosure of platform rules and transparent algorithms. Platforms should proactively disclose trading rules and disclose key matters such as search ranking, traffic distribution, commission rates, and promotional activities in accordance with the law to protect operators’ rights to know and fair transactions. 3. Abandon unfair competition and pursue value co-creation. Platforms should deepen cooperation with accommodation and catering companies in digital operations, standard co-construction, brand cultivation and member exchange, and combine technology and traffic advantages with offline services and supply chain advantages to ensure reasonable profit margins for companies and jointly enhance consumer experience. 4. Strengthen industry self-discipline and jointly build a long-term mechanism. The association will conduct industry research and demand feedback, develop platform cooperation rules and standards, industry self-discipline and training guidance, guide members to operate in compliance, improve quality and efficiency, and work with all parties to promote the high-quality development of the accommodation and catering industry.
