Abstract:
Recently, the topic "A boss spent nearly 900,000 yuan to buy four robot dogs and was dissatisfied with their performance" has attracted attention. Today, Juwei Technology, the manufacturer involved, issued a statement regarding the recent public opinion spread online, saying,
The product procurement matters between the company and its customers have been properly handled through negotiation.
Juwei Technology also stated in its statement today that the company supports customers to carry out secondary development and application innovation around products, and also insists that open cooperation should be based on clear authorization scope, core technology protection and responsible product application. For projects involving specific regions and sensitive application scenarios, cooperation conditions and responsibility boundaries need to be carefully clarified based on the end use, technology openness and relevant compliance requirements.

According to a previous report by "1818 Golden Eye", Boss Xiao, the head of Zhejiang Fazhiqing Robot Co., Ltd., ordered two P2 wheeled quadruped robots "Big Dog" from Hangzhou Juwei Technology Co., Ltd. on July 29 in order to carry out an inspection project. The total contract price was 580,000 yuan, and it was agreed to be delivered before August 10. Boss Xiao paid 70% of the payment, or 406,000 yuan, but after the expiration date, the other party failed to deliver the goods. The reason given was that the robot dog motors needed to be upgraded.
Because the company is in urgent need of dogs,
Boss Xiao ordered two more "Curiosity S01" medium-sized robot dogs on August 28, at a price of 160,000 yuan each, and the delivery was completed soon after payment.

One of them was sent to the United States for inspection at oil sites. When the other was brought to Wenzhou for unpacking and display, it was found that the two legs of the robot dog were unbalanced when standing. The manufacturer's personnel could not solve the problem after on-site debugging for an hour, and said that it needed to be returned to the factory for repairs for a week.
What's more critical is that neither of the two "dogs" can be used for commercial secondary development. The equipment does not have access to the underlying development. After the technician tried according to the documentation, he found that the system was in a locked state.
When asking for the development key, the other party required to sign a secondary development exemption agreement that was limited to scientific research and teaching scenarios.
Boss Xiao said that the company purchased the robot dog to install a pan/tilt, camera, and large judicial model for park patrol and home security and to sell it to the outside world. It was for commercial use, so the agreement could not be signed.
Therefore, both parties insist on their own opinions. Boss Xiao believes that the sales and advertising have promised secondary development, and requires a refund for the two "Big Dogs" and compensation for liquidated damages according to the contract. The quality issues of the "Zhongdog" should be determined by a professional testing agency.
A person in charge of Juwei Technology, surnamed Zhao, who claimed to be CMO assistant, said that the contract did not clearly stipulate the content of secondary development. The company is only responsible for the quality of the robot dog itself, and the responsibility arising from the secondary development should not be borne by Juwei.
Other reports stated that a staff member of the Xiasha Market Supervision Office in Qiantang District, Hangzhou said that the delay of the "Big Dog" was due to poor communication in the motor upgrade. The leg balance problem of the "Medium Dog" has actually been repaired. However, the two parties were in a stalemate over the rights and responsibilities of secondary development, and mediation failed. It was recommended to resolve it through judicial channels.
Public information shows that Juwei Technology was established in Hangzhou in early 2025 and is located in the Robot Valley of Qiantang District. It focuses on the development and application of wheeled quadruped robots.
