📅 2026-10-28

Abstract:

On October 28, according to Bloomberg, a latest report released by Bloomberg Industry Research showed that by 2030, China is expected to lead the world in the field of large language models, the core technology of AI, and remain at least competitive in all other strategically important technology fields.

The study predicts that by the end of 2030, China will lead in 8 of 17 key industries, including large language models. Bloomberg Intelligence analysts led by Francis Chan said in the report that Chinese companies currently lag behind in other categories that are critical to the AI race but will be competitive by 2030, including producing the hardware needed to run AI, from chips to optical network components.

Report says China will lead in 8 industries

"By 2030, the United States and China are expected to jointly lead the development of AI technology, and neither country is likely to achieve full dominance." the report said.

The report noted that U.S. models are likely to maintain a slight lead at the forefront, while "China's expertise in software optimization puts it in a strong position for low-cost AI applications." China is likely to close the gap in semiconductor technology, but will not achieve complete self-sufficiency for the time being.

A Bloomberg Intelligence report predicts that

China will become a global leader in all three new energy sectors, including electric vehicles and energy storage, and will take a global lead in biopharmaceutical manufacturing.

China has now taken a leading position in humanoid robot production and parts of the shipbuilding industry, and its research and development spending has caught up with the United States.
