A hijacking alert was issued on a Dubai Airlines flight with about 180 people on board

According to multiple Israeli media reports today (September 30), a commercial passenger plane flying from Dubai to Tel Aviv made an unusual diversion to Saudi Arabia during the flight that day and sent out an emergency distress signal.

It is reported that the flight was owned by Dubai Air, with about 180 people on board. It took off from Dubai at 7:05 local time and was originally planned to land at Tel Aviv Ben-Gurion Airport at around 9:30 local time. But about an hour and a half into the flight, international emergency distress code 7700 was issued in Jordanian airspace, followed by code 7500. In international aviation safety standards, code 7500 means that the aircraft has been hijacked or unlawfully interfered with. The plane then turned towards Saudi Arabia.

According to security sources, there is currently no conclusive evidence that a hijacking occurred and the pilot cannot be contacted. Israeli media reported that the flight was last seen on aviation tracking websites near Saudi Tabuk Airport and was expected to land in Saudi Arabia soon. Security sources said details of the incident would be clearer after the plane landed.
