Abstract:
AMD has announced the specifications and volume pricing of all 31 Zen 6 server processors in the EPYC 9006 "Venice" series on the product page. The products cover both SP7 and SP8 platforms. Prices start at US$700 for the 8-core EPYC 9016 and go up to US$14,904 for the 256-core flagship EPYC 9996. AMD also reminds that relevant specifications may still be adjusted.
The flagship EPYC 9996 uses 256 Zen 6c cores, supports 512 threads, has a base frequency of 2.55GHz, a maximum acceleration frequency of 4.1GHz, and is equipped with 1GB level 3 cache. Its default CPU power consumption is 600 watts and can be configured between 400 and 600 watts. In terms of selling price, the processor is about US$58 per core; the price is roughly the same as the previous generation 192-core EPYC 9965, which cost about US$14,800 when it was launched.
The SP7 platform has a total of 9 processors, ranging from 64-core EPYC 9556 to 256-core EPYC 9996, with prices ranging from US$8,008 to US$14,904. The SP8 platform has 22 models, with the core number expanded from 8 cores to 128 cores. The highest model is the EPYC 9746 priced at US$11,679.
This generation of products no longer uses TDP as the power consumption label name, but instead uses "Default CPU Power Consumption". The SP7 platform system is expected to be launched in the fourth quarter of 2026, and the SP8 platform is planned to be launched in the first half of 2027. The prices listed in this article are all bulk quotations for purchasing 1,000 processors at a time. The final price of the server sold by the complete machine manufacturer may be significantly different from this.
The report believes that EPYC 9996 deserves attention. AMD previously claimed in a white paper that the performance of Venice processors is significantly ahead of Nvidia Vera CPUs.
