Q2 independent graphics sales still hit a four-year high

📅 2026-09-05

Abstract:

According to the latest data from research firm Jon Peddie Research, the consumer independent graphics card market ushered in a rare off-season outbreak in the second quarter of 2026, with total sales hitting the highest record in four years. JPR President Dr. Jon Peddie pointed out in the report that according to historical industry rules, the second quarter is usually the traditional sales off-season for the PC hardware market. However, in the second quarter of this year, faced with the global memory chip supply crisis and soaring component costs, the counter-trend growth of independent graphics cards broke the original seasonal cycle.

In terms of specific shipment data, the total global shipments of consumer PC graphics processors (including independent graphics cards and integrated graphics cards for desktops and notebooks) reached 75.5 million units in the second quarter.

This absolute figure increased by 10.4% from the previous quarter, and also achieved a slight increase of 1.1% year-on-year.

It is worth noting that during the same period, the consumer CPU market shrank by 1.1% year-on-year, with desktop CPU shipments declining significantly month-on-month, while mobile CPU shipments increased significantly.

Broken down into different platforms, desktop GPU shipments fell by 4% month-on-month in the second quarter, while notebook GPU shipments surged by 16.8%.

Thanks to the strong driving force of the mobile notebook market, the total shipments of independent graphics cards in the second quarter increased by 12.2% month-on-month, and the year-on-year increase reached 14.1%.

Based on NVIDIA's market share and the proportion of overall PCs equipped with independent graphics cards, the total sales of independent graphics cards by the three major chip manufacturers in the second quarter of this year was about 20 million.

More importantly, AMD has gained more market share in this round of notebook graphics card shipment boom, becoming an important variable in driving overall sales growth.

The surge in memory cannot stop Q2 independent graphics sales from reaching a four-year high
