Abstract:
Anthropic, an artificial intelligence company, recently announced a major adjustment to the Claude product system. Claude Cowork, which originally existed independently, will no longer exist as a separate function entrance, but will be directly integrated into the Claude chat interface. In the future, users will no longer need to judge whether a certain task should be handled in chat mode or collaboration mode. Claude will automatically choose the most appropriate working method based on the task content.
According to the plan announced by Anthropic, the new experience will be opened to Pro and Max paying users first, and will gradually cover the web, desktop and mobile terminals in the next few weeks, and will be expanded to free version and team version users later.
Claude Cowork was originally designed as a dedicated environment for handling large tasks and long-term work, such as research analysis, report writing and complex project management. The ordinary Claude chat focuses on instant Q&A and quick interaction. As the user base expands, Anthropic finds that more and more users are confused about the difference between the two modes, and it is often difficult to judge whether a certain work should be completed in the chat interface or transferred to the Cowork environment.
The company stated that many users reported that the biggest pain point was not the function itself, but the need to frequently switch between different work spaces. What's more troublesome is that tasks started in one environment and accumulated contextual information often cannot be completely inherited into another environment.
As a result, Anthropic decided to do away with this distinction. In the future, users only need to tell Claude what work they want to complete, and the system will automatically determine the complexity of the task and decide whether to give a simple answer or call on more advanced collaboration capabilities to continue performing the task. Even if the user shuts down the computer, Claude can continue to process related work in the background and return results after the task is completed.
As part of this update, Anthropic also launched the new Claude Docs and Claude Slides features, and integrated the previously released Claude Design directly into the chat interface.
Among them, Claude Docs allows users to co-write documents with AI. Users can either have Claude draft the entire content, or they can revise, comment and add information piece by piece, just like collaborating with colleagues. Claude Slides is responsible for the creation of presentations. Users only need to put forward requirements, and Claude can automatically generate slide content, which can then be directly edited, displayed online, or exported to PowerPoint and PDF files.
Claude Design, which was previously launched as an independent product, has also been officially integrated into the unified interface. In the future, users will be able to directly ask Claude to produce visual designs, interface prototypes, infographics or other graphical content in any conversation without having to switch to a separate design environment.
Anthropic believes that this unified design can make Claude more like a true digital colleague, rather than a combination of multiple functional modules. Users only need to focus on describing the goals, and whether the chat capabilities, collaboration capabilities, design capabilities, or document creation capabilities are used behind the scenes is completely decided by the system.
To demonstrate the new features, the company also gave an example of a typical office scenario. Users can ask Claude to summarize the business progress of the past week before leaving the office, generate a weekly report according to the company's established format, and refine the key content into a management meeting presentation. When the user arrives at the office, the full report and presentation are ready and in sync. Users can then continue to modify the document, leave comments, and even set tasks to run automatically every week.
Anthropic also stated that all documents, presentations and design works generated by Claude will have unified links for easy access across devices. Users can view and edit the results through their mobile phones, or directly tell Claude which parts need to be modified, and the system will automatically complete the adjustments.
Industry insiders believe that this product integration reflects the changing development trends of the artificial intelligence industry. In the past, companies tended to split chat, agent, design and office functions into multiple independent products, while Anthropic began to try to return all capabilities to a unified entrance, so that users no longer pay attention to functional boundaries, but focus on the task itself.
With Claude Cowork officially integrated into the main interface, Anthropic's product system will gradually evolve from multiple independent modules in the past into a unified artificial intelligence work platform. This means that Claude will not only be a chatbot in the future, but also develop towards a digital office assistant that integrates research, writing, design, presentation and project execution.
