Apple Watch Series 12 and Ultra 4 will add an AI function that can summarize the user's day's content. Apple will also simultaneously launch a new "Readiness" application, update the health application interface, and bring about appearance and color changes.
Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 are expected to debut today, with a new feature that will analyze a user's day with an emphasis on privacy and generate a summary of what happened that day, even including the conversations the user has had. According to Bloomberg reporter Mark Gurman, this feature is designed to cope with the recent rise in AI wearable devices that record and recall users’ daily lives.
Unlike some similar devices, Apple's system is said to not display conversation transcripts, record or store audio, which is likely to be Apple's main selling point in terms of privacy. The article points out that privacy concerns surrounding "always-listening" AI hardware are exactly where Apple hopes to highlight its differentiation.
The feature will launch alongside a new "Readiness" app, a variant of the existing Vitals app that Apple hopes will more directly compete with wearable fitness apps like Oura and Whoop. Readiness will call sensor data from Apple Watch, including heart rate and blood oxygen information; at the same time, Apple will also launch a revised health application for iPhone.
In terms of appearance, Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4 will also receive new colors, as well as body and strap adjustments. Among them, Series 12 will return with a ceramic body option, which is the first return since Apple Watch Series 5; Ultra 4 is said to have longer battery life.
The two new products are expected to be officially released at Apple’s “Surprise and Shine” conference held today.
