Abstract:
According to Bloomberg, Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 Pro will use a narrower smart island, an adjustment that is expected to allow it to display more Live Activities than the current iPhone 17 Pro. The report quoted Mark Gurman as saying that this "smaller and more complete" smart island on iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will allow users to switch between three real-time tasks at the top of the screen.

Currently, Smart Island can only display up to two real-time activities at a time. This design will be released with iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max in 2022. It has been used ever since it was first introduced. In addition to this change, Gurman said that the overall appearance of the iPhone 18 Pro series is generally similar to the iPhone 17 Pro series, but the color matching may be adjusted. The rumored "burgundy red" is expected to replace the popular cosmic orange. In addition, sky blue and silver versions have also been reported before.
In terms of hardware, the iPhone 18 Pro series is expected to be equipped with the A20 Pro chip manufactured using TSMC’s 2nm process, and will bring longer battery life, a redesigned vapor chamber cooling system, and a mechanical aperture lens that can achieve more precise depth of field and better low-light performance; however, the latter may only appear on the larger iPhone 18 Pro Max. Apple's "Surprise and Shine" conference is scheduled to start at 10 a.m. Pacific time today, and relevant new product information is expected to be officially announced at the conference.
