With the release of the official version of iOS 27, some new features hidden within Apple’s system have begun to be discovered by developers and code researchers. The latest exposed iOS 27 code shows that Apple is preparing a series of new designs for Hermès MagSafe card holders, and some new wallets will support the "find" function. In addition, Apple has also added a connection animation specifically for the Hermès MagSafe wallet into the system, which means that the MagSafe accessory cooperation between Apple and Hermès is further expanding.
This discovery comes from a developer who has been studying Apple system code for a long time. He discovered a number of Hermès MagSafe wallet designs that have not yet been officially announced from the iOS 27 official version candidate version. Judging from the information currently exposed, the new product lineup is quite rich, including purple, brown and orange Bandana printed card holders, purple and brown plaid stitching models, and navy blue and burgundy solid leather versions.
In addition, a crocodile-embossed design appears in the code as well as other styles that are not yet fully confirmed. This means that the Hermès MagSafe wallet product lineup may usher in a significant expansion, and Apple has already added support for these new products in the iOS 27 system in advance.
One of the most notable changes is the Find feature. Some of the new Hermès MagSafe wallets will be able to work with Apple’s Find My network, allowing users to check their wallet’s location in the Find My app on their iPhone. If the wallet is left behind, the system can also send a reminder to the user.
This feature is especially useful for smaller, easily forgotten card holders. In the past, although Apple's MagSafe wallet could be firmly attached to the back of the iPhone, if the user took the wallet off the phone and forgot where it was, the phone itself could not help the user track the wallet. In addition to hardware support, iOS 27 also adds a very special software detail. When users connect the Hermès MagSafe wallet to their iPhone, a specially designed connection animation is displayed. It is not the standard animation used by ordinary MagSafe wallets, but an animation effect specially designed for Hermès wallets.
The exposed video shows that when the wallet is attached to the back of the iPhone, the system will display exclusive visual effects corresponding to Hermès accessories. This means that Apple not only recognizes the Hermès MagSafe wallet at the system level, but also designs an independent interactive experience specifically for this type of high-end accessories.
Hermès currently sells a variety of MagSafe card holders through official channels, including different designs such as silk Bandana Eperon d'Or, Jean patch, Pencils and Chaine d'Ancre, as well as Lad styles made of Swift calfskin. The prices of these products are much higher than Apple's own MagSafe wallets, with silk designs starting at about $510 and Lad models reaching $1,025.
In comparison, Apple's own FineWoven MagSafe wallet costs $59 and also supports the "Find" function. From a functional perspective, the biggest difference between Apple and Hermès wallets is obviously not the basic MagSafe connectivity, but the materials, design, branding and luxury attributes.
In fact, the Hermès MagSafe wallet has become a quite special existence in Apple's high-end accessories ecosystem. Apple has long-term cooperation with Hermès in the past to launch Apple Watch straps and other accessories, and this iOS 27 code further shows that the two companies are extending this cooperation to the system-level experience of the MagSafe wallet.
It is worth noting that Apple’s own FineWoven MagSafe wallet has not undergone much structural changes in recent years. Apple originally launched the MagSafe wallet in 2020 using leather, but later switched to FineWoven environmentally friendly materials. While Apple has recently added new color options, the product's basic design and functionality have long remained largely unchanged.
In contrast, Hermès is expanding its line of MagSafe wallets with more colors, patterns and leather craftsmanship. The multiple designs exposed in the iOS 27 code this time, if all are eventually launched, will further strengthen the positioning of the MagSafe wallet as a fashion accessory rather than just a functional mobile phone accessory.
From the perspective of Apple's software design, providing exclusive animations for different brands of accessories also shows that the MagSafe ecosystem is gradually developing from a simple magnetic interface to a more complete accessory platform. In the past, when users purchased a MagSafe wallet, the system was mainly responsible for identifying its connection status; in the future, Apple can provide different visual effects, functions and services based on different accessories.
The addition of the "find" function is particularly noteworthy because it means that wallets, a non-electronic item in the traditional sense, are gaining positioning capabilities similar to AirTag.
