The beta version of iOS 27.2 reveals a large number of new features for the first time: health application reconstruction, Siri expanded multi-language support, Apple’s AI ecosystem is fully upgraded

Abstract:

Apple recently released the first beta version of iOS 27.2 to developers. Different from previous expectations, Apple did not take the lead in launching the iOS 27.1 beta version, but directly opened the iOS 27.2 developer preview version. This update brings the largest round of feature expansions since the official release of iOS 27, including a new health application, more Siri AI language support, and multiple Apple Intelligence-related improvements.

The most talked about change comes from the completely restructured Health application. The new version of the application adopts a new three-tab structure, namely "Insights", "Longevity" and "Browse". Among them, the insight page is responsible for displaying the most important and timely health information, including key indicators such as vital signs, sleep scores, heart rate data, and activity rings.

Apple further introduces Apple Intelligence into the health management system. The system can generate personalized analysis content based on data collected by Apple Watch and iPhone and provide targeted health suggestions. For users who focus on cardiorespiratory training, recovery management or heart health, the system will be able to automatically generate development suggestions that are more in line with personal habits and goals in the future.

For the new generation of Apple Watch users, a new "readiness" scoring system has also been officially unveiled. This feature combines recent activity levels, vital signs, and sleep conditions to generate a comprehensive score to help users determine whether they should resume rest or continue high-intensity exercise training that day.

The new version of the health app also introduces the concept of "healthy age". The system uses activity data, maximum oxygen uptake, sleep duration, resting heart rate and other health indicators to calculate the physiological age corresponding to the user's physical condition and display which lifestyle habits have the greatest impact on health. At the same time, the app has also added new assessment items such as flexibility, balance, strength level, and maximum oxygen uptake. Some tests can even be completed directly with the help of the iPhone camera.

In addition to the upgrade of health functions, Siri AI also ushered in important expansions. The iOS 27.2 beta version adds support for French, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Spanish. This means that Apple Intelligence is gradually expanding its international coverage and opening up AI capabilities to users in more countries and regions.

Apple also added a details feature to the Phone app. If the user has set anniversary information for a contact, the system will automatically remind the relevant date when making a call to help the user avoid missing important moments.

CarPlay Ultra also gets personalized upgrades. Users will be able to adjust wallpaper style, dashboard display style and theme color in the future. Code information shows that in vehicles that support ambient lighting, the interior lighting is even expected to automatically synchronize with the selected theme color.

The Apple TV app also receives an update. For the first time, Apple has extended the multi-user profile feature to the iPhone and iPad platforms. Family members can create independent viewing profiles and set content access based on age. Especially in children's mode, parents can have more detailed control over the level of film and television content.

At the same time, the Apple TV app has added a new sign language commentary support option. When the corresponding content provides sign language services, users can directly turn on the relevant functions. The FaceTime sign language translation API previously promised by Apple has also appeared in the test version, allowing third-party developers to connect professional sign language interpreters to video call scenarios.

In terms of system interface, Apple has optimized the details of the clock application, adjusted the alarm clock display style, and improved readability. Although the changes are not significant, they reflect that Apple continues to improve the daily use experience.

It is worth noting that some Apple Intelligence features have not yet fully returned. The AI message suggestions and automatic repair of weak passwords that were temporarily removed from the official version of iOS 27 have not yet been fully launched, but the industry generally expects that these features will be re-added in subsequent test versions.

Another phenomenon that has attracted outside attention is that Apple directly released the iOS 27.2 beta version this time instead of iOS 27.1. Analysts believe that this may be related to the upcoming folding screen phone iPhone Duo. Since the iPhone Duo will be launched with iOS 27.1, Apple is likely to want to hide the system code related to the new device to avoid leaking more hardware and feature details in advance.

Judging from the currently known features, the focus of iOS 27.2 is no longer limited to traditional system updates, but is further strengthening the connection between Apple Intelligence and the health ecosystem, home entertainment ecosystem, and multi-terminal collaboration capabilities. As more test versions are released, Apple is expected to announce more new artificial intelligence-related features.
