Abstract:
Apple’s latest eighth-generation iPad mini did not announce the battery mAh capacity at the press conference, only revealing that its battery energy is 18.9Wh. Now, with the release of energy label information submitted by Apple to the European Union, the battery specifications of this device have finally emerged.

According to information disclosed by the EU Energy Label Database, the new iPad mini 8 is equipped with a battery rated at 4900mAh. In comparison, the battery capacity of the previous generation iPad mini was about 5034mAh, so the battery capacity of the new model has dropped slightly.
Although the battery capacity has been reduced, Apple officials still mark the same battery life data for the new and old generations of products. This means that the A20 Pro chip used in the new iPad mini has improved in energy efficiency, and its higher energy efficiency is enough to make up for the impact of reduced battery capacity, thereby maintaining similar battery life to the previous generation.
The EU database also disclosed more battery-related information. The battery is rated to retain at least 80% of its original capacity after 1,000 complete charge and discharge cycles. In addition, according to the European Union’s unified testing standards, the new iPad mini has a single charge life rating of 78 hours.
Certification information shows that this battery does not support user replacement. Apple recommends using it with a charger with a power of at least 20W. At the same time, the database also gives multiple rating data for the device, including a D-level energy efficiency rating, a C-level repairability rating, and a D-level drop resistance rating. In the drop test, the device survived a total of 57 drops without experiencing a functional failure.
In addition to battery information, this document also confirms again that the new iPad mini is IP67 dustproof and waterproof, and the screen scratch resistance reaches Mohs hardness level 4. At the same time, Apple promised to provide software update support for the device for at least five years.
The new generation iPad mini uses an OLED display and is equipped with an A20 Pro processor. The body is further thinner and lighter than the previous generation, which is also one of the important reasons for the slight decrease in battery capacity. The product is currently available for pre-order, starting at $699, and will officially begin shipping to consumers on November 6.
