According to the latest news disclosed by overseas technology media, the cost of replacing the internal screen of Apple's folding screen phone has been so high that it has exceeded the ceiling of existing flagship models. The price of replacing a single main screen is almost as much as the price of a mainstream mid-range Android phone.
Ricky Panesar, founder of Correct, a well-known overseas third-party repair service company, combined Apple's past pricing rules and the hardware cost calculation of the folding screen itself, and found that the price of replacing the internal screen of this new machine will be approximately US$1,155, which is equivalent to approximately 7,800 yuan in RMB.
As a visual reference, the official internal screen repair cost for the Galaxy Z Fold 8 folding screen model just launched by Samsung is only about US$772. The screen replacement cost for Apple's first folding screen is more than half that.
High maintenance costs naturally correspond to high prices for the whole machine. Current news from the industry shows that Apple’s first foldable screen mobile phone is named iPhone Ultra, and the starting price in overseas markets will most likely exceed US$2,000. The starting price for the domestic version is expected to be around 15,000 yuan.
Of course, the supply of this mobile phone will not be sufficient in the early stage, and it is inevitable to increase the price if you want to buy it.
