Samsung reportedly plans to accelerate folding screen layout and release Galaxy Z TriFold 2 ahead of schedule

Abstract:

After Apple recently officially announced the new foldable screen phone iPhone Duo, the competition in the foldable screen mobile phone market has suddenly heated up. According to various online supply chains and anonymous internal sources, in the face of the positive impact from the Apple ecosystem, Samsung is planning to comprehensively accelerate its advancement in the folding screen field. It will not only launch the second-generation tri-folding screen flagship Galaxy Z TriFold 2 in advance, but also may simultaneously bring a new roll-screen mobile phone product.

As one of the pioneers of the folding screen form, Samsung has been deeply involved in the dual-folding market for many years, and previously launched its first tri-folding screen mobile phone to explore large-screen multi-modal interaction. However, with Apple officially entering the folding screen field and launching iPhone Duo, the competitive landscape of the entire high-end folding screen mobile phone market has been rapidly restructured. In order to consolidate its industry voice in flexible screen forms and high-end innovation, Samsung internally decided to "step on the accelerator" and comprehensively speed up the development and commercial production schedule of subsequent hardware.

The news pointed out that the new generation of three-fold flagship Galaxy Z TriFold 2 will be launched significantly earlier than the industry originally expected. Combined with earlier leaked information from the supply chain, this model is expected to adopt a more sophisticated new hinge structure solution, achieving a major breakthrough in body thickness control, bringing a thinner and lighter grip that is significantly better than the previous generation product. In addition, there have been rumors in the market that Samsung is actively developing a design that integrates the S Pen stylus directly into the tri-folding body. Whether this feature will be officially commercialized on the second-generation model is also attracting attention from the outside world.

What is even more interesting is that Samsung’s response strategy this time does not seem to be limited to a single three-fold form. Supply chain reports show that with the early debut of Galaxy Z TriFold 2, Samsung is very likely to simultaneously launch its first mass-produced scrollable screen (Slideable/Rollable) smartphone. Through two completely different physical extension forms of scroll unfolding and tri-folding unfolding, it will form a double coverage of the high-end folding and flexible screen market segments.

Analysts believe that although Apple’s entry into the folding screen industry has brought direct market squeeze to the Android camp, it has also objectively greatly increased the awareness and purchase intention of mainstream consumers around the world towards the folding screen category. Samsung chose to launch the next generation of advanced forms represented by the thinner and lighter Galaxy Z TriFold 2 and the new scroll screen in advance, aiming to firmly maintain its first-mover advantage and technical barriers in the field of ultra-high-end future mobile devices through extreme hardware industrial design and form differentiation.
