Abstract:
DoorDash announced on Wednesday the launch of an AI food ordering agent that can be used through Apple Messages, allowing users to place orders by sending text messages. For example, if you enter "order what I usually eat", the system will recognize that the user is referring to the meal that is usually ordered on Friday night; the user can also specify the dish, or ask it to recommend nearby restaurants.
The AI agent will search for local restaurants based on the user's requirements, organize recommended meals and shopping carts, and also send photos of dishes via text messages. For multi-person dining orders, it can handle different dietary preferences and quantities of various meals at the same time, helping users complete their orders.
DoorDash currently has a waiting list for new features in the United States for users to apply for experience. The company launched an AI food ordering service, aiming to compete with Uber Eats and Grubhub, and also joining the industry trend of personal AI agents operating apps and websites on behalf of users.
DoorDash also announced that it will begin testing drone delivery with some restaurants in Northern California.
