Abstract:
Technology enthusiast and developer Matt Birchler recently conducted a unique test: using a can of ice-cold La Croix sparkling water to dissipate heat for the iPhone 18 Pro.
The results showed that this can of cold drink taken out of the refrigerator brought about a 25% continuous performance improvement to the mobile phone, and the effect far exceeded expectations.

It is understood that when Birchler tested the A20 Pro chip equipped on the iPhone 18 Pro, he found that when the phone ran speech-to-text tasks for a long time, its performance would decline significantly.
In order to verify the impact of heat dissipation on the chip, he took out a can of ice-cold sparkling water from the refrigerator and placed it against the back of the phone to cool down.
Judging from the test data, the iPhone 18 Pro without heat dissipation measures can reach a processing speed of 447.9 words per second in the initial stage.
However, as the heat builds up, starting from the 7th round of testing, the processing speed will rapidly decay and stabilize at a level of about 320 words/second, a drop of nearly 30%.
After placing an iced drink on the back, the average speed of the phone in 20 rounds of high-intensity testing rose to 400.4 words/second, which means that the sustained performance directly increased by 25.1%.

Currently, there are commercial solutions on the market that cater to such needs, such as the Black Shark Magnetic Cooling Back Clip 6 Pro for players, and the SmallRig cooling mobile phone cage and Tilta Khronos set for video creators.
In contrast, although using a cold drink can to cool down a mobile phone is effective, it is obviously neither convenient nor practical to operate a mobile phone with a drink can on its back.
