Abstract:
Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has confirmed to attend the state banquet of the leaders of China and the United States, which is scheduled to be held on September 24.
This state banquet has a luxurious technology lineup. In addition to Jen-Hsun Huang, technology giants such as OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, Apple Executive Chairman Tim Cook, Tesla CEO Musk, Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai and Qualcomm CEO Cristiano Amon were all invited to attend.

The reason why Jen-Hsun Huang’s attendance attracted much attention is inseparable from the special status of Nvidia GPU in the Sino-US technology game. According to reports, the U.S. Department of Commerce has previously approved the purchase of Nvidia H200 chips by about 10 Chinese companies, with a maximum limit of 75,000 chips per company.
However, as of mid-2026, the actual delivery volume of this batch of approved H200 is zero. U.S. Commerce Secretary Lutnick admitted at a congressional hearing that China hopes to focus investment on the development of local industries, so it has suspended the purchase of U.S. AI chips.
Huang Renxun’s own attitude towards chip export controls has also undergone a significant change. He has criticized U.S. chip control as a "loser mentality" on many occasions, believing that export restrictions will only accelerate China's independent research and development.
But in May of this year, he made it clear that China "should not obtain Nvidia's most advanced and high-end AI GPUs," including Blackwell and future Rubin series.
However, this statement is more of Huang Renxun’s public gesture under the reality of export controls, and does not mean that he has given up on the Chinese market. Jen-Hsun Huang's attendance provided an additional communication channel for Nvidia GPU export control issues.
But whether GPU can truly re-enter the Chinese market still depends on the United States' choices in the broader technology game.
