Huawei’s new English sub-brand name Osta is revealed, and the first two flagship models have surfaced

Abstract:

Huawei is preparing a new mobile phone sub-brand, and its English name and first batch of product information have been exposed recently. According to a report by GSMArena on November 5, the previously reported Chinese name was "Xingmang". Now two sources have revealed that the brand's final English name will be "Osta", which is also said to be printed directly on the product's retail packaging box.

According to the information currently exposed, the Osta brand is expected to launch two mobile phones, namely Osta O1 and Osta O1 Pro. The product positioning is not the mid-range model as previously rumored, but directly aimed at the flagship market.

Among them, Osta O1 is expected to adopt a four-sided curved screen design and be equipped with a large circular camera module on the back of the fuselage. The overall design language may emphasize the combination of curved screen and circular imaging system.

Osta O1 Pro adopts a significantly different design route. It is equipped with a narrow bezel wide screen on the front of the fuselage and a horizontally arranged camera module on the back. According to sources, the phone will be equipped with a 6.39-inch LTPS flat screen with a resolution of 1.5K and a screen ratio of approximately 16:9.5. The overall appearance may be closer to the Pura X View previously launched by Huawei.

In terms of storage configuration, Osta O1 Pro is said to be available in four versions, including 12GB memory with 256GB storage, 12GB memory with 512GB storage, 16GB memory with 512GB storage, and 16GB memory with 1TB storage.

Sources also revealed that the Osta O1 Pro’s hardware specifications and pricing will be at a similar level to Huawei’s existing flagship phones. Considering that memory chip prices continue to rise, higher memory and storage configurations may also become an important factor in their pricing.

This positioning is significantly different from previous rumors about the "Starlight" series. Earlier news said that this series may focus on the mid-range market and use Kirin 8 series processors. The flagship positioning now exposed means that Huawei may have adjusted its product planning for this new brand, or the information previously circulated is inaccurate.

It is worth noting that Osta Pro adopts a wide-screen design, which has also triggered speculation about Huawei’s future product line layout. Previously, it was reported that Huawei may hand over its widescreen mobile phones to a new brand. However, when asked whether Huawei would hand over all widescreen models to Osta from now on, a source said that widescreen products will continue to remain in the product lineup of Huawei's main brand.

At present, Huawei has not officially announced the specific information of the Osta brand and the two mobile phones. The above product name, configuration and market positioning are still leaked content, and the final design and specifications still need to wait for official release and confirmation.
