Abstract:
The British luxury car company launches a new pure electric model. Two years ago, the well-known British company's drastic rebranding sparked widespread criticism on social media. The car company is part of India's Tata Motors Group. Jaguar held an event in New York on Tuesday to unveil the Type 01 model, calling it the "most technologically advanced, most powerful, and most aerodynamic" model in Jaguar's history.

This marks a disruptive new development direction for Jaguar. In November 2024, Jaguar announced a series of adjustments for a comprehensive electrification transformation, which was criticized at the time.
At that time, Jaguar released a 30-second short film on the X platform. The characters in the film were dressed in brightly colored clothing, with slogans such as "Living life alive", "Abandoning mediocrity" and "Never repeat".
It is worth noting that there are no cars in this commercial, nor is the brand's classic leaping leopard logo used. Elon Musk was also one of the critics. The X platform owner asked: "Are you selling cars?"
At the time, Jaguar defended the advertising campaign, telling Sky News that the company wanted to "boldly break through and subvert tradition."
Italian Ferrari and British Bentley also launched their first electric models this year. Luxury car companies are trying to tap the acceptance of electric vehicles among high-income groups.
Many media reported that the Jaguar Type01 starts at 130,000 pounds (approximately 172,000 U.S. dollars) in the UK and is priced at about 130,500 U.S. dollars in the U.S. market, which is much higher than previous models of the same level.
This four-door luxury touring coupe has an extra-long hood, low roof, frameless doors, and a camera instead of a rear window. The cruising range is up to 450 miles, and it accelerates from 0 to 62 mph in just 3.2 seconds.
The new car launch comes as Jaguar Land Rover is still recovering from a cyber attack last year that forced the company to halt production; just a month ago, Jaguar Land Rover announced that it would lay off 4,000 people as part of a large-scale cost reduction plan.
Jaguar Land Rover CEO PB Balaji said that the release of Type 01 has opened an "exciting new era" for Jaguar.
Balaji said in a statement: "It combines British brand heritage, bold creativity, cutting-edge technology and breakthrough engineering design, and embodies our vision of creating aspirational products, helping to attract a new generation of customers to join Jaguar's loyal and passionate user base."
