Abstract:
LG Electronics, a large South Korean technology company, said on Tuesday that the company has reached an agreement with Microsoft to expand strategic cooperation between the two parties in the field of artificial intelligence. On Monday local time, LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo met with Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella at the U.S. technology giant’s headquarters in Washington. Executives from LG’s major subsidiaries also attended.
According to the cooperation agreement, as Microsoft deploys AI data centers around the world, the two companies will work together to promote the commercialization of AI data centers.
In the short term, the two parties will discuss the supply of large-capacity cooling solutions for Microsoft's core strategic data center sites.
LG Electronics now has a complete data center thermal management product matrix, including chillers, coolant distribution units and air conditioning systems.
AI data centers are equipped with a large number of high-performance graphics processors (GPUs), and their power consumption and heat production scale are much higher than traditional data centers.
The two companies will also expand cooperation in the field of physical artificial intelligence (physical AI), which applies AI technology to manufacturing, logistics and mobility scenarios.
LG will use Microsoft’s high-performance cloud infrastructure to accelerate the development and training of AI models that operate in physical scenarios.
