Meta AI glasses spark privacy controversy, Apple’s new CEO responds to “perverted glasses”

Abstract:

According to "Business Insider", rumors suggest that Apple is developing its own AI glasses, but the company wants to stay away from the reputational challenges Meta currently faces with its AI glasses. Apple's new CEO John Ternus was recently asked in an interview how Apple views privacy issues in the era of AI wearable devices in the face of market resistance caused by AI glasses from companies such as Meta.

"I know you can't talk about products that haven't been released yet, but what do you think about the resistance to so-called 'perverted glasses'?" Tom's Guide editor-in-chief Mark Spoonauer asked.

Before Ternus answered, Greg Joswiak, Apple's senior vice president of global marketing, who was also interviewed, joked: "This is really an excellent marketing slogan." This sentence made Ternus laugh.

In addition to joking about competitors, the two Apple executives also tried to explain how the company hopes to address privacy concerns as the company launches two new AI hearing features with the next-generation Apple Watch.

“We want to do this in a way that users can feel comfortable using, and people around them feel reassured that it exists,” Ternus said.
