Nokia 2360 Flip flip feature phone officially released: dual-screen design, SOS emergency call and remote parental management

📅 2026-10-30

Abstract:

HMD Global recently launched a clamshell feature phone called Nokia 2360 Flip, which is mainly targeted at the elderly, students and users who want to get rid of the complex functions of smartphones. The new phone continues the design of Nokia's classic flip phone, while adding functions such as remote home management, emergency help buttons and child use restrictions, trying to give traditional feature phones more family security management capabilities.

One of the biggest features of Nokia 2360 Flip is that it is equipped with a dedicated SOS emergency button. If the user presses and holds the button for three seconds, the phone will automatically dial the preset contact number and send text messages to up to five emergency contacts at the same time. This feature has certain practical value for elderly people living alone, people with mobility impairments, and children who need simple communication devices. Emergency contacts and text message content can be set through the companion app.

HMD has also developed a family management application called Family Assist for this phone, which supports Android and iOS platforms. Family members can remotely manage the 2360 Flip through their smartphones, including adding or modifying address book contacts, setting reminders, adjusting the phone volume, and configuring emergency help functions. It is worth noting that remote management is completed through text messages, so users do not need to activate a mobile data plan for this feature phone, nor do they need to connect to Wi-Fi.

In addition to safety features for the elderly, the Nokia 2360 Flip also has a parental control system designed for children. The phone supports School Mode. When turned on, the device will be limited to displaying the clock and making emergency calls, preventing students from using other functions in class. In addition, parents can set up a contact whitelist, allowing only designated numbers to make calls and text messages, and can also individually disable camera, game and other functions. Relevant restrictions are protected by a Family PIN password to prevent children from modifying the settings on their own.

In terms of appearance, the new phone adopts a classic clamshell structure, equipped with a 2.8-inch QVGA main screen, and a 1.77-inch QQVGA secondary screen on the outside, which allows you to view incoming call information without opening the phone. The mobile phone uses larger menu icons and a physical numeric keyboard, as well as independent speakers and hearing aid compatibility functions to reduce the difficulty of operation for elderly users as much as possible.

The hardware configuration is quite simple. Nokia 2360 Flip runs the HMD S30+ operating system, is equipped with 4MB RAM and 4MB internal storage space, supports expansion through microSD memory card, and has a maximum capacity of 32GB. The rear of the fuselage is equipped with a basic QVGA camera and is equipped with an LED flash. In addition, the phone retains the FM radio, 3.5mm headphone jack and USB-C charging port.

In terms of battery life, the new phone uses a 1450mAh removable battery. The official stated maximum standby time is 15 days and the maximum talk time is 27.5 hours. The removable battery design also means that users can directly replace the battery after the battery ages without having to send the entire phone to a repair center.

The mobile phone is available in three colors: carbon black, burgundy and turquoise. The body size is 111.85×55.56×18.95 mm and the weight is about 121 grams.

However, this product has a very obvious limitation: Nokia 2360 Flip only supports GSM 900/1800MHz 2G network and does not support 4G LTE at all. This means that in countries and regions that have shut down 2G networks, mobile phones may not be able to access mobile communication networks normally. As operators in many European countries gradually phase out 2G services, this restriction is particularly worthy of consumers' attention.

As of now, HMD has not announced the unified global price and complete launch plan of the machine. It should be noted that the Nokia 2360 Flip is not the same product as the previously launched HMD 2660 Flip. The latter provides 4G network support, while the 2360 Flip chooses a simpler 2G communication solution.

From the perspective of product positioning, Nokia 2360 Flip does not intend to compete with smartphones, but hopes to provide a simple and reliable communication device for the elderly and children through physical buttons, long battery life and remote management functions. However, in the context of the ongoing migration of mobile networks to 4G and 5G, only supporting 2G undoubtedly limits its market application. For this type of product, simple functionality is not a problem, but the long-term availability of the communication network is the key to determining its actual use value.
