Nvidia announces RTX Spark “N1X” chip specifications, 20-core and 18-core dual versions

Abstract:

At the International Consumer Electronics Show (IFA) in Berlin, NVIDIA officially announced the detailed specifications and launch plan of the first highly integrated SoC for the consumer-grade RTX Spark PC platform-"N1X". As the core product of Nvidia's entry into the complete personal computer computing platform, N1X integrates the Grace CPU based on Arm architecture with the latest Blackwell RTX GPU architecture, and is scheduled to be officially launched through major OEM partners in October this year.

NVIDIA confirmed that the N1X chip will be available in two SKU configurations with different specifications for the first time. The flagship high-end version is equipped with a 20-core Grace CPU and a Blackwell GPU with 48 SMs (a total of 6144 CUDA cores). Its core size is on par with the desktop RTX 5070. This model supports unified memory configurations from 24GB to up to 128GB, provides rich expansion I/O interfaces, and will cover both thin and light notebooks and compact mini desktop PCs at launch. The sub-flagship version is equipped with an 18-core Grace CPU and a 5120 CUDA core GPU composed of 40 groups of SMs. Its core number still exceeds the RTX 5060 Ti. This specification is equipped with 24GB to 32GB of unified memory. It will be mainly positioned on notebook platforms in the initial stage, and is expected to be expanded to mini hosts in the future.

Although due to the boundaries of power consumption and body heat dissipation, the graphics output of N1X cannot be completely equivalent to that of a high-power independent graphics card, but with its strong architectural integration, the chip is expected to directly top the current iGPU performance list. With the support of unified memory architecture and advanced power consumption control, the relevant equipment displayed by the cooperative brands can have a body thickness as low as 14 mm, and promises to bring all-day battery life performance. This solution not only breaks the previous chip monopoly situation in the Windows on Arm ecosystem, but also directly competes with high-performance integrated platforms such as Apple's M series and AMD Strix Halo.

At present, many mainstream OEM manufacturers, including Acer, Asus, Dell, Gigabyte, HP, Lenovo, MSI and Microsoft, have fully promoted the launch of their products. The first batch of notebooks and mini hosts equipped with N1X chips are expected to go on sale in various regions in October. Since the product covers a variety of memory levels and overall machine designs, specific terminal prices will be announced by each major brand when they are released.
