Abstract:
Apple may announce its cooperation with the American security company ADT at the "Welcome Home" smart home product launch event on October 13. Based on ADT's recent recruitment and employee statements, it is speculated that the two parties may cooperate to provide door-to-door installation services for home automation equipment. Neither Apple nor ADT has officially confirmed this cooperation, so the relevant content is still a rumor.

ADT has been recruiting low-voltage technicians in several cities across the United States since this summer. Some new employees said they did not receive many job details after joining the company and mainly worked with other technical staff; some employees and their supervisors reportedly signed confidentiality agreements. Another clue mentioned in the report is that the work phones given to new employees are iPhones, while other ADT technical staff usually use Android devices. After some new employees inquired with their supervisors, they were allegedly told that the work may involve home automation and home installation. ADT is expected to further explain the job responsibilities later this month.
ADT technicians may help users install Apple's rumored smart home hub, especially the wall-mounted version, or install smart home accessories developed by Apple in cooperation with brands such as LG. It has been previously rumored that the central device will integrate smart home control, Siri, video calling and other functions, but Apple has not announced official product specifications; whether ADT will provide professional security monitoring services has not been confirmed. The description of low-voltage technicians on the regular recruitment page mainly includes wiring, equipment installation, system testing and troubleshooting. The Apple project itself is not mentioned, and it cannot be independently proven that the two parties have reached a cooperation.
ADT has a long-term smart home cooperation with Google. The two parties announced a strategic cooperation in 2020, and ADT subsequently launched a system integrating Google Nest devices and ADT security monitoring. MacRumors quoted people familiar with the matter as saying that the agreement may have expired this year, or it may expire next year and will not be renewed; however, Google’s current help page still introduces ADT’s cooperation with Google Nest devices and services, which is only applicable in the United States. On the other hand, ADT did stop the automatic unlocking function in Trusted Neighbor in January 2026, but this is only a specific function adjustment and does not prove that the overall partnership between the two parties has ended. Whether Apple and ADT will cooperate, whether the cooperation involves monitoring services, and whether the news will be announced on October 13 are still awaiting official confirmation.
