Abstract:
Samsung officially released the new generation of flagship Android tablet Galaxy Tab S12 series, launching two products: Galaxy Tab S12+ and Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra. Unlike the previous-generation Galaxy Tab S11 series, which only offered standard and Ultra versions, Samsung reintroduced the Plus model this year to further improve its flagship tablet product line.
The Galaxy Tab S12+ is equipped with a 12.6-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display with a resolution of 2800×1752; the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra continues the 14.6-inch large screen design with a resolution of 2960×1848. Both devices support a 120Hz refresh rate and peak brightness of up to 1,600 nits.
In terms of performance, both tablets are equipped with MediaTek’s latest 3nm Dimensity 9500 processor. Samsung said that compared with the previous generation Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra, the new Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra's NPU performance has increased by up to 61%, CPU performance has increased by 19%, and GPU performance has increased by 17%. At the same time, the new equipment uses a redesigned 3D vapor chamber cooling system to improve sustained performance in high-load scenarios.
In terms of battery life, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra has a built-in 11600mAh battery, and the Wi-Fi version weighs 692 grams; the Galaxy Tab S12+ is equipped with a 10600mAh battery and weighs 553 grams. Samsung claims that the Ultra model can achieve up to 23 hours of video playback, and the Plus model can achieve up to 21 hours. Both products support 45W wired fast charging, and it takes about 95 minutes to fully charge.
In terms of storage configuration, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra can provide up to 16GB of memory and 1TB of storage space, and the Galaxy Tab S12+ can provide up to 12GB of memory and 512GB of storage space. Both devices support microSD memory card expansion with a maximum capacity of 2TB.
In terms of connectivity capabilities, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra supports Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6.0, and optional 5G networks; the Galaxy Tab S12+ supports Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 6.0, and optional 5G connections.
In terms of imaging system, the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra has a rear 13-megapixel main camera and an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle dual camera combination, and a front 13-megapixel camera for video calls. The Galaxy Tab S12+ is equipped with 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle cameras on the front and rear. Both devices continue to come with an S Pen stylus and retain IP68 dustproof and waterproof capabilities.
In terms of software, the new products are pre-installed with Android 17 and One UI 9 systems. Samsung also further strengthens the AI capabilities of the tablet, and users will also receive six months of Google AI Pro service.
In terms of productivity application ecology, Samsung has pre-installed a complete tablet-optimized version of Adobe Photoshop on an Android tablet for the first time. The software supports S Pen operation and integrates Firefly-driven AI functions such as generative filling and image conversion. In addition to Photoshop, users who purchase the Galaxy Tab S12 series will also receive software benefits including Notability, Goodnotes, LumaFusion, Notion, Clip Studio Paint, MyScript, Noteshelf 3 and ArcSite, with a total value of approximately US$600.
In terms of price, the Galaxy Tab S12+ starts at US$1,199, and the Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra starts at US$1,399. Among them, the initial price of the Ultra model increased by US$200 compared with the previous generation product. Samsung has previously raised the prices of many Galaxy devices earlier this year. For example, the price of the 256GB Galaxy Tab S11 Ultra has increased from US$1,199.99 to US$1,299.99, while the price of the 1TB version has even risen to US$1,899.99.
Samsung said that the Galaxy Tab S12+ and Galaxy Tab S12 Ultra will be officially launched in some markets on October 7, offering two colors: gray and silver. The company promises to provide up to seven generations of Android system upgrades and security update support for both devices.
