The financial report shows that Samsung’s third-quarter revenue was 195.25 trillion won (approximately US$145.6 billion), an increase of 126.88% from 86.06 trillion won in the same period last year; net profit attributable to shareholders of Samsung’s parent company was 75.21 trillion won (approximately US$56.1 billion), an increase of 526.39% from 12 trillion won in the same period last year.

Samsung

This is Samsung’s first consecutive quarter to benefit from the memory chip super cycle brought about by AI. In the past year, driven by the demand for large model training and inference, HBM (high-bandwidth memory) and DRAM prices have continued to rise. The inventory clearance and price increases have caused Samsung's chip business gross profit margin to rebound significantly. Revenue doubled and net profit more than sixfold. The growth rate is rare in Samsung's financial reports in recent years.

The weight of this market trend can be seen from another set of figures: in the same period last year, Samsung's net profit was less than 10 billion U.S. dollars; a year later, single-quarter net profit was more than 6 times that of that time. Market analysts believe that as long as the trend of AI computing power expansion does not change, the storage price increase cycle is still in the middle, and Samsung's high performance growth may be sustainable.

For domestic users, this financial report is also of reference significance - it explains why the prices of memory and solid-state drives have remained high recently: the upstream original manufacturers are making a lot of money, and it is only a matter of time before the costs are transmitted to the consumer market.
