Abstract:
Snap officially released the new artificial intelligence service "Specs Intelligence", which attempts to upgrade the AI assistant from a traditional chat robot to a digital assistant that can proactively understand user needs, predict tasks, and assist in completing work. This service will first be launched on the iPhone, and will gradually be expanded to the Mac platform through an invitation-only system. In the future, it will also be deeply integrated with Snap’s latest augmented reality glasses.

Unlike current mainstream AI assistants that mainly rely on users to issue instructions, Snap defines Specs Intelligence as a "predictive artificial intelligence service." Its core concept is not to wait for users to ask questions, but to proactively provide help at the right time by continuously understanding users' habits, goals and daily activities.
According to information released by Snap, Specs Intelligence can connect various applications and services authorized by users and build long-term knowledge about personal goals, priorities, relationships and lifestyle habits. As usage time increases, the system will continue to accumulate contextual information, thereby building a more complete personal digital portrait between work and life.
For example, before a meeting is about to be held, the system can automatically organize relevant background information and remind you of decisions that need to be made, questions worth asking, and important matters that need attention. For upcoming business trips or travel, the system can automatically aggregate flight, hotel and restaurant reservation information, while reminding users of any work deadlines that conflict with their itinerary.
In addition to proactively providing suggestions, users can still have conversations with it just like using traditional AI chatbots. Snap said that this model not only retains natural language interaction capabilities, but also adds continuous task understanding and background awareness capabilities.
The launch coincides with Snap’s first consumer-facing augmented reality glasses, Specs. However, the company emphasizes that even if you don’t purchase the glasses, you can still use Specs Intelligence on your iPhone and Mac.
Specs Intelligence’s capabilities will be further expanded in the context of augmented reality glasses. The system can display user-related information directly in the field of view based on the current scene. For example, boarding information, hotel reservation records and important reminders can be automatically displayed during a business trip; a complete daily briefing can be generated before going to work, including schedule, meeting preparation content and other to-do items.
Judging from the live demonstration materials, Specs Intelligence can be connected to common office tools such as Gmail and Slack, which means that its goals are no longer limited to entertainment and social scenarios, but have begun to enter the field of productivity software.
In order to help users manage complex affairs more effectively, Snap has also introduced a feature called "Corners" that can organize life content according to different dimensions such as work and family. At the same time, a new "Goals" module is added, which is used to set and track long-term goals and connect daily tasks with longer-term development plans.
In terms of privacy, Snap stated that users have full control over the scope of data authorization and can freely decide which services to connect to and what content the system is allowed to access. The company emphasizes that Snap employees cannot view the personal data users access through Specs Intelligence, and the data will not be used to train or fine-tune Snap's AI models, nor will it be used for personalized advertising services.
Technically, Specs Intelligence adopts a multi-model hybrid architecture. The system comprehensively uses open source models deployed in data centers in the United States and large language models running locally, and will continuously adjust the underlying model combination according to actual usage to obtain the best results.
Currently, users in the United States who are over 18 years old can experience the preview version through the Specs app on iOS. At the same time, the full early access version of the Mac platform has opened a waitlist application, but access will be provided on an invitation-only basis.
Industry insiders believe that with the launch of Meta's Muse and Google's development of Gemini-related personal assistant products, major technology companies are gradually shifting their competitive focus from chatbots to intelligent agents that can manage personal affairs for a long time. Snap's launch of Specs Intelligence also marks the company, long known for its social products, officially joining the race for a new generation of AI personal assistants.
