Abstract:

South Korea's Ministry of Education said on Thursday that those who use artificial intelligence (AI) glasses to cheat in the annual university entrance exam will be held criminally responsible; at the same time, the ban period for cheaters will also be extended from the current one year to three years.

When announcing the above measures, South Korea's Ministry of Education emphasized that it would severely crack down on the use of AI glasses to cheat in the annual College Academic Ability Test (CSAT), and characterized such behavior as "deliberate and systematic obstruction of the normal operation of the national examination."

The department stated that cheaters who use AI glasses will face criminal penalties for obstructing official business by fraudulent means; in addition, the department is also pushing to extend the ban period for cheaters of the "College Academic Ability Test" (CSAT) from one year to three years.

South Korea's Ministry of Education also stated that it will actively recommend that colleges and universities adopt the same regulations in their respective entrance exams - previously, colleges and universities have discovered cases of candidates using AI glasses to cheat in entrance exams.

According to the plan, starting from this year’s “College Academic Ability Test” (CSAT) scheduled to be held on November 19, each test site will be assigned a dedicated inspector responsible for inspecting “AI glasses”. In addition, the Korean Ministry of Education will also establish a rapid response mechanism with local education departments to handle various suspicious incidents in a timely manner.

For next year's exam, South Korea's Ministry of Education stated that after evaluating the practicality of relevant equipment, it plans to study the introduction of radio wave detectors developed by professional institutions to identify illegally carried electronic devices.

In July this year, South Korea’s Ministry of Education included AI in the list of prohibited items for the national civil service examination and issued guidelines on how to handle various cheating cases.
