Abstract:
Chinese display panel manufacturer TCL Huaxing is preparing for the next-generation gaming display market. According to the latest disclosed technology roadmap, the company plans to launch OLED display panels with refresh rates as high as 700Hz around 2028, further pushing the display refresh rate to new limits.

In recent years, high refresh rate has become an important indicator of competition for e-sports monitors. From 144Hz, 240Hz to 360Hz, and now to the increasingly popular 500Hz products, the refresh rate of display devices continues to increase to meet the smoothness and response speed needs of professional e-sports and high-end gamers.
According to exposed information, TCL Huaxing is developing a new generation of OLED technology platform, including 700Hz refresh rate products for the future market. Compared with the current mainstream 240Hz to 360Hz OLED displays, this specification will achieve a significant leap forward.
At the same time, TCL has also planned multiple phased technology nodes. In the next few years, the company expects to continue to increase the refresh rate of OLED panels and further improve key indicators such as response time, power consumption control and display life, providing more choices for the e-sports and professional application markets.
OLED technology itself has pixel-level self-luminous properties. Compared with traditional LCD panels, it has faster response speed, higher contrast and better black performance. Therefore, OLED is considered to be one of the important technical routes to achieve ultra-high refresh rate displays.
However, for ordinary consumers, there is still room for discussion on the actual value of 700Hz monitors. At present, even in the field of professional e-sports, the application scenarios that can fully utilize the refresh rate above 500Hz are relatively limited. At the same time, to achieve 700Hz picture output, the processor and graphics card must be able to continuously provide extremely high frame rates, which places extremely high requirements on the performance of the entire platform.

Industry insiders pointed out that although most users may not be able to feel the obvious difference between 700Hz and existing high refresh rate products in the short term, the research and development process of higher refresh rates will often drive simultaneous progress in driving circuits, pixel response speeds, display algorithms, and power consumption control, thereby promoting the development of the entire display industry.
It is worth noting that in recent years, Chinese panel manufacturers have continued to expand in the high-end display field. In addition to competition in size and resolution, high refresh rates have become a new focus in the development of OLED technology. As manufacturers such as Samsung Display, LG Display and TCL CSOT continue to invest in research and development, competition in the e-sports display market is expected to further intensify in the next few years.
If TCL can achieve mass production of 700Hz OLED panels in 2028 as planned, this will become a new milestone in the display industry and mean that the refresh rate arms race will enter a new stage. By then, the focus of the development of high-end e-sports equipment may change from "whether a high refresh rate can be achieved" to "who can utilize the ultra-high refresh rate more effectively."
