Tesla Model YL's rear wheel collapsed: Officially revised many vehicle parameters in the owner's manual, reducing the overall size by 3-4 mm

📅 2026-09-15

Abstract:

After the Tesla Model YL was involved in the collapse of the rear wheel, Tesla has modified the vehicle's overall height, ground clearance and other parameters in the Model YL owner's manual, reducing the overall height by 3-4mm.

Recently, many Tesla owners have reported that the Tesla Model YL, which was less than a year old, experienced a rear wheel collapse during long-distance driving and other scenarios, and the gap between the rear wheel arch and the tire became significantly smaller, affecting driving stability and safety. Some car owners discovered that the spring collapsed again soon after the spring was replaced after the sale, and they suspected that it was a common vehicle problem. Tesla has not yet officially responded to the incident of rear wheel collapse.

Informed sources revealed to Sina Technology that Tesla officials have recently modified some parameters of the vehicle in the owner's manual. Comparing the before and after versions of the Tesla Model YL owner's manual, it was found that in the version in April this year, the vehicle's total height was 1668mm, the loaded ground clearance was 122mm, and the unloaded ground clearance was 169mm; in the latest version, the vehicle's overall height was reduced to 1664mm, the loaded ground clearance was reduced to 118mm, and the unloaded ground clearance was reduced to 166mm.

Some car owners are worried that the modification of vehicle parameters may have a certain impact on the after-sales standards for rear wheel collapse and maintenance.

As for the modification of vehicle parameters, Tesla officials have not responded as of press time. Tesla customer service said that it has not received relevant notifications and has no relevant information to share.
