Abstract:
The artificial intelligence boom continues to reshape the global business landscape, and NVIDIA once again topped the 2026 list of the world's best companies jointly compiled by Time and Statista. This annual list evaluates companies from three dimensions: employee satisfaction, revenue growth, and sustainability transparency. This year's list shows that the influence of the AI economy has already extended beyond chip manufacturers to manufacturing, insurance, and defense fields.
Wistron (16th), Lenovo (51st), and Zurich Insurance Group (70th) are newly ranked at the top of the list. Wistron, Nvidia's core supplier, said demand for its AI servers continues to exceed supply. The manufacturing company recently built a new factory in Texas to expand production capacity. Lenovo is well-known for its personal computers, smartphones and tablet products. Relying on its emerging AI server business, Lenovo has achieved a record annual profit.
The boom in AI physical infrastructure construction also opens up opportunities for other companies. Zurich Insurance Group is expanding its captive insurance and risk management products for large data center projects to Europe and Latin America. S&P Global data shows that the insurable value of a single data center can reach up to US$30 billion, so the engineering underwriting business has become a major growth track.
European defense technology companies have also benefited from changes in geopolitical focus. In 2025, European NATO allies committed to investing approximately 800 billion euros in defense readiness by 2030.
The list has been released for the fourth time, and a total of 1,000 companies around the world have been selected. The assessment consists of three equally weighted indicators: employee satisfaction based on a survey of more than 200,000 employees worldwide, revenue growth in the past three years (including relative growth and absolute growth), and sustainability transparency, with reference to standardized ESG indicators such as carbon emission intensity, CDP score, and ESG reporting quality.
NVIDIA topped the list for the second consecutive year with a total score of 97.51. In 2025, its score was 97.62.
Second place was Cigna, with a score of 94.37; Apple returned to the top of the list, ranking third, with a score of 93.16; Meta was fourth, and AstraZeneca was fifth.
Apple’s recovery deserves attention. The company dropped out of the 2025 list and dropped to 24th in the sustainability transparency ranking this year. But the remaining two metrics were strong enough to push it back into third place. Apple ranks third in the world in terms of employee satisfaction, second only to Microsoft and IBM. "Time" rated Apple's revenue growth as "very high," which is the highest of four ratings, higher than "outstanding," "high," and "moderate."
“However, the situation is changing, and the technology giant is gaining a foothold in the new industry landscape.” Apple CEO Tim Cook once said in the third quarter earnings call that the company is significantly increasing its investment in AI and embedding AI capabilities into various devices and platforms. In July after the survey cycle for this list ended, Apple disclosed that its revenue had increased by 10% year-on-year, the largest increase since 2021.
