Abstract:

At the opening ceremony of BlizzCon 2026 recently, Blizzard announced the launch of the new campaign "Forsaken Kingdom" in "Warcraft 3: Reforged Edition". Players will experience the fall of Lordaeron and witness the rise of the Forsaken. The new DLC is now directly unlocked and playable, and the free 3.0 "Final Edition" large update will be pushed simultaneously.

How to play:

The new campaign consists of a prologue + three main chapters, with a total play time of more than 30 hours. The plot fills the narrative gap between "Reign of Chaos" and "The Frozen Throne", focusing on the complete storyline of the fall of Lordaeron and the rise of the Forsaken forces. The prologue reproduces classic tragedies such as Arthas' patricide, the fall of Lordaeron, and Stratholme; the main chapter, with Sylvanas as the core, tells the whole process of the undead breaking away from the Lich King's mental control and establishing the Undercity beneath the ruins of Lordaeron. Players will face multiple opponents such as the Scarlet Crusade, the Dread Lord Balnazzar, and the Scourge of Naxxramas, using the dual perspectives of Arthas and Sylvanas to advance the plot. At the same time, a new neutral hero unit "Forsaken Paladin" is unlocked, and the ending of the story follows the world view of "World of Warcraft: Forever".

The free 3.0 large-scale update carries out a large-scale transformation of the main body: a new "final version" graphics mode is launched, a large number of building and unit models are remade, lighting and shadow effects are improved, and players can freely switch between the original and new versions of art. At the same time, the inventory system is renovated, the world editor is rewritten, and the online server is upgraded. All players who own "Warcraft 3: Reforged Edition" can obtain this content for free.

The "Forgotten Kingdom" DLC is a paid content, and you need to own the main body of "Warcraft 3: Reforged Edition" to play it. PCGamer said that this is an important move by Blizzard to try to restore the poor reputation of "Warcraft 3: Reforged Edition". When the 2020 remastered version was first launched, it was criticized for being heavily shrunk and not delivering on promised content. After many years, Blizzard is still continuing to invest development resources in the work.
