Kioxia has launched the industry's first automotive UFS4.0 embedded flash memory and has begun providing samples to the industry. It is understood thatThe new memory provides three different capacities of 128GB, 256GB and 512GB, and supports a wide temperature range, compliant with AEC-Q100Grade2 requirements, and enhanced reliability for complex automotive application environments.

Kioxia said that the new product adopts a small package, provides fast embedded storage transmission speed, and is suitable for a variety of new generation vehicle applications, such as vehicle telematics systems, infotainment systems, and ADAS systems.

Kioxia said that the sequential reading speed of the new memory is increased by about 100%, and the sequential writing speed is also increased by about 40%, which is a significant improvement. Due to the improved performance, related applications can better take advantage of 5G connections, bringing faster system startup speed and a better user experience.

The new UFS4.0 device released this time integrates BiCSFLASH3D flash memory and controller in a JEDEC standard package. UFS4.0 uses MIPIM-PHY5.0 and UniPro2.0 technology., supports theoretical interface speeds of up to 23.2Gbps per channel or up to 46.4Gbps per device, and is also compatible with UFS3.1.

In addition, the new product supports the high-speed link startup sequence (HS-LSS) function, and the transmission link startup (M-PHY and UniPro initialization sequence) between the device and the host can be performed at HS-G1RateA (1248Mbps) faster than traditional UFS. This is expected to reduce link startup time by approximately 70% compared to traditional methods.
