Jeff Bezos has added to his real estate empire by acquiring a mansion in the Billionaire Bunker in South Florida, months after he purchased the house next door. Bezos, the world's third richest man and founder of Amazon.com, has agreed to spend $79 million to buy a seven-bedroom mansion on Indian Creek, a man-made barrier island in the Miami area, people familiar with the matter said. The price represents a 7.1% discount to its listing price of $85 million in May.

A representative for Bezos had no immediate comment. The deal was handled by Douglas Elliman's Dina Goldentayer and Danilo Tavares, but both declined to comment.

Bezos bought the house next door for $68 million in June. The latest deal will see him acquire a property of about 1.8 acres (0.7 hectares) built in 2000. The property last sold in 2014 for $28 million.

The $79 million property has seven bedrooms.

Bezos, 59, may still buy other properties in the area, said the people, who asked not to be identified discussing non-public information. Indian Creek is located on Biscayne Bay, about 8 miles (13 kilometers) from South Beach. Famous investor Carl Icahn, football star Tom Brady and singer Julio Iglesias, as well as Jared Kushner and Ivanka Trump all have residences here, so it is called the "Billionaire Bunker."
