Everyone likes the ceramic material on mobile phones very much, especially the warm and jade-like feel that makes people put it down, but at the same time, it also has a major drawback - it is fragile. Although ceramic materials have better scratch resistance than glass, the material itself is relatively brittle and has a great risk of falling and breaking.

Corning recently announced the launch of Gorilla Glass ceramics.Officials emphasize that this is an innovative, transparent and strengthenable glass-ceramic material that has significantly improved drop resistance compared to other aluminosilicate glasses.

In Corning lab testing, Gorilla Glass ceramic withstood 10 consecutive drops from a height of 1 meter on simulated asphalt surfaces, while some other aluminosilicate glasses on the market often break on the first drop.

David Velasquez, vice president and general manager of Corning's Gorilla Glass business unit, said: "Gorilla Glass is known around the world for its outstanding toughness and durability, and our new glass ceramic materials continue this tradition. Gorilla Glass Ceramic is designed for enhanced toughness and fully reflects our continued investment in innovation and development of high-quality, durable display cover and body materials."

According to Corning officials, this Gorilla Glass ceramic will be first used on a Motorola device within a few months.

Corning officials did not give specific parameters, but it is expected to be similar to Xiaomi Longjing Ceramics, which can achieve the feel and hardness of ceramics, but is lighter and more resistant to falling.
