Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi said in a social media post on Friday that he andTeslaCEO Elon Musk spoke but did not disclose when the conversation took place.

Modi wrote: "Had a conversation with Elon Musk and discussed various issues, including those discussed during our meeting in Washington DC earlier this year. We discussed the huge potential for cooperation in the areas of technology and innovation. India remains committed to advancing its partnership with the United States in these areas."

The talks come as Musk's companies - especially Tesla and Starlink - are increasingly interested in entering the Indian market. Tesla has been in talks with Indian officials about setting up a manufacturing base in the country. At the same time, Reliance Jio, the telecommunications company of India's richest man Mukesh Ambani, announced an agreement with Musk's SpaceX in March to bring Starlink satellite Internet services to India. Telecom tycoon Sunil Bharti Mittal's Bharti Airtel has also signed a similar partnership agreement with SpaceX.

In February this year, Modi met with Musk during his two-day state visit to the United States. The two sides expressed optimism about future cooperation in emerging fields such as electric vehicles, renewable energy, and space.
