In the third quarter of 2025, BYD once again led Tesla in the global pure electric vehicle market. Official data shows thatBYD sold 582,522 pure electric models in the third quarter, while Tesla delivered 497,099 vehicles. BYD led by 85,423 vehicles in a single quarter.

This also means that BYD has led Tesla in global pure electric sales for four consecutive quarters from the fourth quarter of 2024 to the third quarter of 2025.
Among them, in the first three quarters of 2025, BYD's overall sales of new energy vehicles (NEV) reached 3.26 million units, with pure electric models contributing the core share, accounting for 49.26%, and sales of nearly 1.606 million units.
As a comparison,Tesla delivered 1.218 million units in the first three quarters, which is nearly 400,000 units behind BYD, and even exceeds Tesla's total delivery volume in a single quarter. BYD has secured the global pure electric vehicle sales crown in advance.
At the same time, Bloomberg analysts predict that BYD will surpass Tesla by a large margin this year. BYD expects to deliver about 2.17 million pure electric vehicles, compared with the average estimate for Tesla of 1.61 million.
In addition, it is worth noting that BYD's sales performance is also more impressive in the European market, which was once Tesla's home market.

Bitauto data shows that in August 2025, BYD's sales exceeded Tesla's in European countries such as Spain, France, Italy, Ireland, Portugal, and Austria, as well as in Southeast Asian countries such as Singapore, Thailand, and Malaysia.
From January to September this year, BYD's overseas sales exceeded 700,000 vehicles. As more local chemical plants come into operation, BYD's overseas markets will provide a strong growth engine for the group's sales.
