Recently, the Ministry of Public Security organized the drafting of the national standard plan "Technical Conditions for Motor Vehicle Operation Safety" to solicit opinions from the society.The main drafting units of this standard include the Road Traffic Safety Research Center of the Ministry of Public Security, the Highway Science Research Institute of the Ministry of Transport, and the China Automotive Technology Research Center Co., Ltd. It is planned to be officially implemented 6 months after the release of the draft for comments, replacing the current GB 7258.

The standards focus on various common problems in new energy vehicles in recent years, all of which have been controversial issues in the past.

Among them, a new addition was added to the door: "For cars equipped with electronically controlled door locking systems or automatically activated door locking systems, when the irreversible restraint device is deployed or a thermal event occurs in the power battery, the non-collision side door should automatically unlock."

For electric door handles, the "Draft for Comments" also adds more detailed requirements:

If an electric door handle is equipped, an inner door handle with a mechanical release function should also be equipped as a mechanical emergency door handle, and corresponding eye-catching signs should be set near the mechanical unlocking and opening device.

Each door of the car (excluding the tailgate) should be equipped with an outer door handle with a mechanical release function. The design of the system should be such that when the locking device is in a locked state, after an accident such as the deployment of the irreversible restraint device or a thermal event of the power battery, the door on the non-collision side should be able to open the door through the outer door handle without the use of tools.

In addition, two new requirements for passenger cars have been clearly added to the technical indicators of "overspeed alarm and speed limit function":

First, it is pointed out that every time a passenger car is powered on/ignited (except for automatic engine start and stop), it should be in a default working state with an acceleration time of not less than 5 seconds per 100 kilometers.

The second requirement is that pure electric and plug-in hybrid passenger vehicles should have the function of suppressing accidental pedal depressing and acceleration, which can detect when stationary or creeping, suppress power output and prompt the driver through an obvious signaling device.
