U.S. technology billionaire Elon Musk said late Wednesday that his company SpaceX AI and Tesla expected to continue large-scale orders for Nvidia chips. Last month, SpaceX acquired xAI in an all-stock deal in preparation for a potential massive initial public offering of SpaceX later this year. This is the first time Musk has published a document calling the merged entity SpaceX AI.

Tesla is designing fifth-generation artificial intelligence chips to power its self-driving ambitions. These chips power Tesla's Autopilot system, including Full Self-Driving software.

Musk said in another post on X that the AI5 chip can be used for training in data centers, but is primarily optimized for AI edge computing for humanoid robots Optimus and Robotaxi.

He also said Tesla expects to widely release an update to its Full Self-Driving (supervised) software within weeks.

Musk said on Saturday that Tesla's Terafab project to manufacture artificial intelligence chips would be launched within seven days.
