Apple has previously confirmed that the first iOS 27 public beta will be launched in July, which means that this version is expected to be available for download to public users within this month. The industry expects that the public beta will be released roughly after the third or fourth iOS 27 developer beta.

Judging from the past update rhythm, the first public beta versions of iOS 16 to iOS 26 were released in mid-to-late July, with the time concentrated between July 11 and July 24. The iOS 26 public beta goes live on Thursday, July 24, 2025, the iOS 18 public beta launches on Monday, July 15, 2024, the iOS 17 public beta launches on Wednesday, July 12, 2023, and the iOS 16 public beta will be available for download on Monday, July 11, 2022. This historical pattern also further confirms the judgment that the iOS 27 public beta version will be launched on user devices this month.
According to the process announced by Apple, once the iOS 27 public beta is open, eligible iPhone users can participate in the test for free. Users first need to visit beta.apple.com to register a test project account, and then enter "General" → "Software Update" → "Beta Update" in the iPhone's "Settings" application. Select the "iOS 27 Public Beta" option on this page (if it is not displayed, try restarting the device), and then follow the on-screen prompts to complete the installation. For users who don’t want to wait for the public beta, the iOS 27 developer beta can currently be installed for free through the Apple Developer Program.
Although iOS 27 public betas are generally more stable than early developer betas, Apple and industry insiders still remind users to be cautious about upgrading their main devices. Beta systems often have various bugs and performance issues, which may affect the normal operation of applications that we rely on daily, and even affect in-car functions such as CarPlay. Before installing any beta system, making a complete backup of your iPhone is considered a necessary step. If conditions permit, using a backup phone to experience the beta system instead of the main phone is also a common choice for many experienced testers.
In terms of device support, iOS 27 will be compatible with iPhone 11 and later models, but core features such as Siri AI in the Apple Intelligence function are only available for iPhone 15 Pro and later models. At the same time, it should be noted that the newly revised Siri is currently available in the form of a waiting list. After installing iOS 27, users need to go to the Siri option in "Settings" to join the waiting list. In some regions and user groups, it may take several weeks to get on the waitlist and gain access to Siri AI and the standalone Siri app.
In addition to Siri-related updates, iOS 27 will also bring a series of changes in the look and experience of the system. The new system continues to advance the Liquid Glass design language, providing more detailed visual effects adjustments and performance optimization. At the same time, Apple has further expanded child safety-related features and made improvements in overall performance and reliability. According to Apple’s official statement, iOS 27 includes a lot of detail polishing and “improvement adjustments”, aiming to provide users with a smoother and safer experience.
